Day 5

Today had us being pool rats and just soaking up some sun. We all enjoyed some books we had been given for Christmas. It did rain off and on today but mostly off.

We took in the buffet for the first time for supper. The restaurants at this resort have been really good.

Carter has been enjoying the room service option and using it as a fourth meal of the day.

Day 4

Today had us visiting Xplore where zip lining was done by Carter, Justine and Allen. I was afraid of injuring my back and nobody wanted to experience that again so I didn’t. They zipped into “lakes” and through waterfalls. Pretty cool experience!  Together we did some atving, and paddled through a cave in kayaks.

We ate at the Meso Tapas restaurant tonight at the resort and it was our least favourite.  Justine did not enjoy one of her “tapas” as the fish she ordered came uncooked. Not quite what she was expecting. 😳

Upon coming back to our room, we played some cards.

Day 3 Mexico

Today has us playing in the waves and then migrating to the pool to baby a few sunburns. We enjoyed tacos by the pool for lunch, mojitos for an afternoon refreshment, and steak for supper at Sea Olive We have enjoyed the restaurants at this resort instead of the usual buffet fare. The multiple swim up bars and pools are a real bonus if one doesn’t want to listen to noise and action of the main pool. One can only listen to the activities director leading water aerobics so many times before you want to do your own thing.

Day 2 on the beach

Sunday found us camping out for the most of the day in the beach. It is very wavy so good fun was had jumping and dicing through them. Probably won’t use the snorkel gear here. The resort has a windy pool throughout it with many swim up bars. After we had our daily fill of drinking salt water from the waves, we made our way back to our villa finding our own swim up bar just steps away from “home”. We spent most of the late afternoon there.  Supper was enjoyed at the Italian restaurant with gnocchi, risotto and seafood pasta being enjoyed with tiramisu for dessert. Tonight we will nurse some sunburns and get ready for another day of battling the waves tomorrow. Perhaps we will look at taking an excursion off of the property. Maybe not. 😜

Day 1 of our Mexican Adventure at Azul Fives Playa del Carmen

We have a somewhat jinxed view of flying direct routes due to our past experiences. Our trip started today with a minor delay due to some valve on the plane and the Cancun airport being very busy. We arrived in Cancun close to supper time. We had a small van ride to our resort with a couple from Kronau who was flying in to surprise their family! Our arrival at Azul Fives was quiet, low-key, and classy.  They gave us a ride to our villa of 712. We had our first meal at the Thai restaurant- green curry, beef red curry and some kind of stir fry was enjoyed by all of us. So good!  Part of the reason for booking this resort is to enjoy restaurant quality meals instead of just a buffet. This selection tonight was a great start!
